PUBLISHED STUDY: Glutathione – Antioxidants Prevent Breast Cancer!
GOOD NEWS FOLKS: a recent study in Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevent suggests that exogenous antioxidants like vitamine E, vatimin C and beta-carotene may help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. The study indicates that reducing “oxidative stress” could play a role in stopping breast cancer from developing in the first place!
The Cellular Health Foundation has long discussed the value of eliminating oxidative stress and controlling or fighting free radicals with, not just antioxidants, but your body’s own NATURALLY PRODUCED ANTIOXIDANT, glutathione.
The study led by Shah F.D. at The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute in Asarwa, Ahmedabad, India showed that higher levels of plasma beta-caroten, vitamin E and vitamin C were associated with signficiantly reduced risk of breast cancer. [Research ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19469632]
Besides being your body’s master antioxidant, glutathione is also the very foundation of your immune system. Glutathione is critically important in removing oxyradicals from the cells as well as for protecting the cells from free radicals. Oxidative stress causes cell degradation, which can allow the nucleus to be damaged, leading to abnormal cell formation, aka cancer, including breast cancer.
Glutathione supplements are not recommended as the best they can offer is increased serum levels of glutathione. Synthetic cysteine products like NAC are also not recommended. Though they have been known to provide temporary, immediate benefits, prolonged use has been proven in studies to potentially be harmful.
There are a very few natural products that increase your own Master Antioxidant glutathione, INCLUDING lymphocytic glutathione. The one that we have confirmed to be backed by more than 30 years of research, 75 global patents, listed in the Physician’s Desk Reference so a doctor can actually prescribe it, and reimbursed by Medicaid/Medicare in some applications is called Immunocal, a product developed and discovered by researchers working at McGill University in Montreal Canada. Diabetes? Target the Immune System
Posted by: Immunocal‚ May 27, 2010 : Category: Uncategorized
There is no cure for diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association 23.6 million children and adults in the United States—7.8% of the population—have diabetes, 5.7 million of them are yet undiagnosed! Even more staggering is the 57 million people who are pre-diabetic!
The CellularHealth Foundation in cooperation with Immunotec, Inc. is committed to getting the word out that the key to winning the battle is to target your immune system. In a recent national conference call Jim Spencer, discusses in detail how and why Immunocal has an impact on the immune system in such as way that diabetics can feel much much better.

New Superbug Found in 3 States!
Move over MRSA, there are more superbugs competing for attention. A germ received the dubious distinction of “superbug” when its resistant to most powerful antibiotics. This latest one, NDM-1, popped up in Boston and has now emerged in 2 other states and Canada, according to Fox News.
The Boston Globe reported:
“A medical officer at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the Massachusetts patient survived, as did the only other two US patients with infections blamed on the superbug, which appears to have been contained. All three patients developed urinary tract infections that carried a genetic feature that made their cases harder to treat.”
NDM-1 stands for New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase, all infected patients were said to have recently received medical treatment in India. This superbug is emerging in various places all over the globe and is causing quite a bit of concern.
“This is just another example of these multidrug-resistant [germs] that we are going to have to come to grips with,’’ said Dr. Alfred DeMaria, top disease tracker for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
“It’s a great concern,” because drug resistance has been rising and few new antibiotics are in development, said Dr. M. Lindsay Grayson, director of infectious diseases at the University of Melbourne in Australia. “It’s just a matter of time” until the gene spreads more widely person-to-person, he said. (Fox News)
WHAT YOU CAN DO
YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS THE ONLY TREATMENT THAT A GERM CAN NOT MUTATE AROUND. The best thing you can do for your own protection and for your family is ensure that you have a strong, fully functioning immune system. Don’t take this advice lightly because your immune system is your frontline defense against viral and bacterial infectious attack. You need your T-cells on high alert and ready to spring into action when called upon. Keeping glutathione levels high keeps the immune system at the ready. Immunocal has been scientifically and medically proven to sustain glutathione levels, ensuring an optimal immune response capability.

March 13, 2009 — Lower serum levels of creatinine are associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a brief report in the March issue of Diabetes Care.
The authors note that creatinine in serum is a direct indicator of total muscle mass. “Although skeletal muscle is one of the major targets of insulin,” write Dr. Tomoshige Hayashi, from Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan, and colleagues, “to our knowledge, no prospective study has investigated the association between total skeletal muscle mass and type 2 diabetes.”
The current investigation included 8570 men in the Kansai Healthcare Study, an ongoing project examining risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases. The participants were between 40 and 55 years of age and nondiabetic at entry.
Incident diabetes was diagnosed if fasting glucose levels reached 126 mg/dL or higher or if treatment with an oral hypoglycemic agent or insulin was initiated.
After 4 years of follow-up, 877 men were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. “The multiple-adjusted odds ratio for those who had serum creatinine between 0.40 and 0.60 mg/dL was 1.91 compared with those who had levels between 0.71 and 0.80 mg/dL,” the investigators report.
They conjecture that, because resistance training is known to cause muscular hypertrophy, it might be worth exploring whether such training could increase creatinine levels and thereby cut the risk of diabetes.

Immunotec’s Clinical Study on Autism:

Researchers in Texas Launch Autism Study Using Protein Supplement
DALLAS, November 22, 2006— Scientists at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Immunotec Research Ltd. have initiated a study in which a specially formulated whey protein isolate (Immunocal)will be used to raise glutathione levels in an attempt to lessen symptoms of autism.
Autism is a neurological developmental disorder that affects children’s ability to socialize normally, impairs language skills, restricts their interests and curiosity and causes other behavioral abnormalities. Most cases are diagnosed before three years of age, and there has been an alarming increase in the number of cases diagnosed over the past two decades. Currently, 1 in every 175 American children is being identified as having autism, and these numbers are on the rise each year. To date, medical treatment of this disorder has been minimally effective. Although the causes of autism have not been clearly identified, research has suggested that chronic biochemical imbalance plays a role. Studies have shown that levels of the major intracellular antioxidant “Glutathione” is typically about 50% lower in children with autism. Glutathione, which is produced by every cell in the body, is responsible for a number of functions including removing or neutralizing dangerous substances that we are exposed to on a daily basis, including toxic metals.
Toxins, pollution, disease, stress, and poor diet can all contribute to loss of glutathione. When glutathione levels reach a critically low degree, we are much more vulnerable to toxins and immune dysfunction.
Principal investigator for this study is Dr. Janet Kern, an adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern, which is internationally recognized for its clinical and research programs.
“Some children with autism are poor detoxifiers relative to normally developing children, and in particular, have trouble excreting toxic metals,” said Dr. Kern. “Toxic metals that are not eliminated may build up in the brain. Plasma glutathione has been found to be lower in children with autism, particularly, in children with autism who have regressed. We want to clearly establish that raising glutathione levels in these children will improve their ability to detoxify these substances and in that way improve some of their symptoms.”
Dr. Jill James, Professor of Pediatrics at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, will be a coinvestigator. Dr. James is noted for her landmark studies in autism and toxicology and is among the first scientists to point out the links with low glutathione levels. “We know that Immunocal has been used to raise glutathione in other studies very effectively in areas such as cancer and lung disease. We want to take advantage of this same technology”, stated James. The team will be using a protein supplement produced by Immunotec Research Ltd. near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, called “Immunocal”. It is identified by the Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR) as a glutathione precursor. Immunotec Research Ltd. has combined rigorous research and business acumen delivering natural healthcare and dietary supplements in 22 countries worldwide.
